Kate McGuire #9
2022 KWF Recipient:
Kate McGuire is a senior at Bayport-Blue Point High school on Long Island. Kate is a standout softball player in Suffolk County. Last year, she received the Player of the Year award. Not only does she stand out on the softball field, but she shines in the classroom as well with a 96.85 overall GPA. Kate embodies all the qualities that make her the first recipient of the KWF scholarship. Kate is described by her coach as, “A natural leader that has a dominant presence on the field, she is respectful and kind.” Kate will be attending Fordham University in the Fall on a softball scholarship.

Sarah Blaskiewicz #
2023 KWF Recipient:
Sarah Blaskiewicz. graduated from Sayville High School in NY with a GPA of 102.2 and has been awarded the News12 Scholar Athlete and is the Honor Society President. This outstanding athlete continues to pursue her softball career and further her education at UCONN. She has been described by coach Rowan, “As a natural leader who empowers others,” and is known to put in extra hours to improve upon her overall skills. Sarah displays qualities of selflessness, leadership, grit, and passion. Many of the qualities we love and hold dear to our heart at the Kathy Waddilove foundation.

Cam Lauretta #10
2023 KWF Recipient
Cameron Lauretta is a talented senior that will be graduating with a GPA of 4.4+ while taking AP and honors classes. This outstanding athlete is set to continue to pursue her softball career and further her education at Coppin State University this fall. She has been described as a leader and is known to put in extra hours to not only improve upon her own skills, but to organize practices to assist her teammates as well. She not only dedicates her time to help her teammates on the field, she has also devoted time to tutor others so they too can find success in school.

Lauren McSweeney #7 and Kiera Jantz #5
2024 KWF Co-Recipients
Lauren McSweeney and Kiera Jantz are the battery of Islip High School in Suffolk County NY. Both best friends being named Newsboy’s Top 100 Long Island High School softball players. McSweeney struck out 202 batters and had a 1.51 ERA, The Newsday second teamer also batted .510 and drove in 30 runs. Kiera Jantz hit .479 with 4 home runs and 35 RBIs. both girls will attend Mercy University in the Fall. Their dedication, spirit, and passion for the game embody everything that Kathy stood for.
